Do you have the ultimate facial hair? Or maybe you have a booming voice, able to call your kin from hollers away? Either way, The App (the Appalachian Center for the Arts) in downtown Pikeville, KY is where you’ll want to be on April 25, 2025, from 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM! This event will be taking place during the Pikeville Hillbilly Days Festival 2025.
This year, we’re bringing back two unique events guaranteed to have you grinning from ear to ear:
Whether you’re keen on competing, cheering on your friends, or simply soaking up the one-of-a-kind atmosphere, there’s something here for everyone.
Situated in the heart of downtown Pikeville, The App is the perfect spot to gather together for a friendly competition, great entertainment, and a memorable evening celebrating Appalachian culture.
Show off the results of your careful grooming (or carefree growing!) for a chance to win bragging rights and fun prizes. It’s an opportunity to get creative—whether you’re rocking a handlebar mustache, a finely sculpted goatee, or a full-on lumberjack beard.
From experienced beard aficionados to anyone attempting their very first “best effort” stubble, everyone is welcome to join in on the fun. Bring along friends and family for an evening full of lighthearted competition, plenty of laughs, and a chance to meet fellow facial hair enthusiasts.
After the facial hair festivities, stick around for the return of Kin Calling, a humorous celebration of Appalachian roots. It’s all about connecting with the heritage of our mountains and sharing a hearty laugh at the end of the day. If you’ve never seen a Kin Calling contest before, you’re in for a real treat—think of it as Appalachian family reunion vibes mixed with a little bit of playful theater.
If you love a good time (and maybe a good mustache or two), come on down to Pikeville’s own Appalachian Center for the Arts:
Whether you’ve got a beard, a mustache, or just some big laughs to share, join us at The App for an unforgettable evening. We can’t wait to see your fabulous facial hair—and hear your “kin calling” chops! Be there or be square!
