A hilarious magical adventure is coming to downtown Pikeville as The Appalachian Center for the Arts presents Puffs, running October 2–11, 2026.

Officially titled Puffs, or: Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic, this comedic play by Matt Cox reimagines a familiar magical world from the perspective of the “Puffs” — the often-overlooked, loyal outsiders. Instead of following the famous heroes everyone already knows, Puffs tells the story of three potential heroes, Wayne, Oliver, and Megan, as they navigate a dangerous magical school, shifting friendships, classroom chaos, and the pressure of being part of the “Chosen One” era.

Funny, fast-paced, and full of heart, Puffs is a playful celebration of friendship, loyalty, and finding your place, even when you are not the one in the spotlight. Fans of magical school stories, comedy, and clever stage productions will find plenty to enjoy in this offbeat and affectionate adventure.
