Hillbilly Days 2023, the annual Spring festival of Pikeville, Kentucky, was a huge success. The festival, which features ridiculous characters and outrageous jalopy cars, raises money each year for the Shriners Hospitals for Children, with over 100,000 visitors attending the event this year. Hillbilly Days 2024 was announced for April 18th through the 20th, with the Carnival opening on the eve of April 17.

Hillbilly Days 2023 Overview

The three-day event was held from April 20th to April 22nd, and featured a variety of activities, including 3 stages of live music, carnival rides, food vendors, and a parade. One of the festival’s highlights was the Trace Adkins concert, which drew a large crowd of country music fans. In addition, the Micro Wrestling Federation also held an event at the Appalachian Wireless Arena the day before, which drew a lot of attention and excitement from attendees.

In addition to the concert and wrestling event, Hillbilly Days also featured a number of interesting attractions, such as the Great Lakes Lumberjack Show, axe throwing, and several family friendly attractions.

As mentioned above, Hillbilly Days also serves an important purpose. The festival raises money for the Shriners Hospitals for Children, which provides specialized care for children with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate.

Over the years, Hillbilly Days has raised over a million dollars for the hospital, making it one of the largest fundraising events in the region.

Looking Ahead to Hillbilly Days 2024

With the success of Hillbilly Days 2023, organizers are already looking ahead to next year’s event. Hillbilly Days 2024 is set to take place from April 18th through the 20th, and promises to be even bigger and better than ever before.

There are no specifics for next year’s entertainment offerings (that information will become available late this year, or early next year). But you can expect the staples of the event to be featured next year, including the 3 stages of live (free) music, a car show, parade, and so forth. This year’s event featured many more vendors than last year, so it stands to expect that next year’s event could feature new vendors as well.

Secure Hillbilly Days 2024 Lodging

Pikeville, Kentucky offers several great hotel lodging options for the traveling Hillbilly (or hillbilly at heart). Be sure to book your Hillbilly Days trip early, as hotel rooms fill up fast (sometimes a year or more in advance!)

As always, Hillbilly Days 2024 will continue to raise funds for the Shriners Hospitals for Children. By purchasing merchandise from the Hillbillies on the intersection of Huffman and Main, visitors can help support this important cause.

In conclusion, Hillbilly Days 2023 was a huge success, thanks to the Trace Adkins concert, the Micro Wrestling Federation event, and the wide range of activities and entertainment that was offered. Also, Hillbilly Days wouldn’t be possible without the volunteers and community members who donate their time to make it happen; the Southeast Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, Pikeville City, and our tourism partners. We can’t wait to see what Hillbilly Days 2024 has in store. Mark your calendars and join us in Pikeville next April for another unforgettable weekend of Appalachian culture, music, food, and fun!
