Pike County Government, along with local partners held a press conference Thursday, July 29, 2021 to announce plans for “Feuding Falls”, a campground and waterpark that will be located at Hardy Park in Hardy, Kentucky. Hardy and the Blackberry area is widely known for being the area where the Hatfield and McCoy feud took place, and is already a hotbed for tourist activity since Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton’s Hatfields and McCoys miniseries aired almost a decade ago.
Pike County Commissioners Brian Booth, Jason Tackett and Ronnie Robertson were present, along with Kentucky Sen. Phillip Wheeler, and local football coaches Matt Varney and Danny Oliver to present details on this ambitious tourism project. According to WYMT, “construction for the water slides is expected to begin in September, pending any issues, and the pool should open by spring 2022, with the campground expected around the same time”.
This project is planned in three phases, which will include the construction of a kiddie pool and splash area, a lazy river and slides. The addition of more campsites and cabins is also a possibility.
