There has been a great deal of interest in the details for this year’s US 23 Country Music Highway Yard Sale. In previous years, the US 23 Country Music Highway Yard Sale has been a wildly popular event that involves yard sales from the Greenup County/Ashland, Kentucky area, all the way down to Pikeville, Kentucky. The 2020 event, like most events, was cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns. However, it is worth noting that this event does not have an official governing body, or centralized authority, but rather is the result of a loose group of unaffiliated people who decide to have yard sales along the highway during memorial day weekend each year.
This year, the US 23 Country Music Highway Yard Sale is “unofficially” on. This year’s dates are Thursday, May 27, Friday, May 28 and Saturday, May 29, 2021. These dates are based on the dates of previous years, with the event running from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. daily (of course this is up to the individual sellers).
As with previous years, the yardsale will span roadsides along US 23 from Greenup County in the northeastern part of Kentucky to Pike County, in the southeastern part of Kentucky (on the Virginia border). Sellers can set up along US 23 or on nearby property (with landowner permission). Vendors are not allowed to set up on the Kentucky state highway right-of-way.
