Pikeville-Pike County’s horse show season kicked off with a special evening of music, memories, and mountain tradition during The Marlow Tackett Memorial Concert and Horse Show at Spring Branch Events in Pikeville. Held in honor of beloved Pike County performer Marlow Tackett, the event brought together riders, families, music fans, and friends for a celebration that felt both exciting and deeply personal.

One of the highlights of the event was the incredible photography of Allen Bolling, whose images beautifully captured the energy and emotion of the day. From the action of the horse show arena to the crowd, performers, and quiet moments between events, Bolling’s photography helped preserve the spirit of a gathering that means so much to the local community. His work showcases not only the excitement of the event, but also the people and traditions that make Pikeville-Pike County such a special place to visit.

The evening also honored the legacy of Marlow Tackett, a Pike County country music favorite remembered for his powerful voice, warm personality, and lasting influence on the region’s music scene. The memorial concert featured Wendy Shanelle & The Marlow Tackett Legacy Band, carrying forward the sound and spirit of a performer who helped shape local entertainment for generations. Paired with the horse show, the event was a fitting tribute to Marlow’s love of music, community, and the mountain culture he represented so well.

More Spring Branch Events Coming in 2026

Horse show season continues in Pikeville-Pike County with the 2026 Spring Branch Events series, held on the first Saturday of every month from June 6 through September 5, 2026.

Admission is $6 per person, and children 10 and under are admitted free.
