Civil War re-enactors and enthusiasts will enjoy the opportunity to hear a featured speaker and learn about upcoming Civil War related events at the Regional Lee-Jackson Reunion at Breaks Interstate Park on Saturday, January 19 in the Rhododendron Conference Center.
The event will feature Dr. Brian D. McKnight, a native of Lee County, an American History professor at UVA-Wise, and author of Contested Borderlands.
Dinner will be served prior to Dr. McKnight’s featured presentation, and afterward, a candle lighting memorial for War Between the States Ancestors will be held. Information will also be available from regional groups in regard to their upcoming events, giving everyone the opportunity to mark their calendars for the coming year.
A candle lighting ceremony will also be held in memorial of those who took part in the War Between the States.
Those interested in attending the event can choose a program and dinner package, or one that includes the program, dinner and overnight accommodations in a lodge room. For those who register in advance, individual program admission and meal is $16.04; Program, meal, and overnight lodging for an individual is $61.04. For a couple, program admission and meals is $32.08; Program, meal, and overnight lodging for a couple is $77.08. Children 4 and under are admitted free. Ages 4-10 are $8.00; and ages 11 and up are $16.04.
Ticket prices increase by $5 on the day of the event; seats are subject to availability.
In the case of inclement weather, the event will be rescheduled.
The Lee Jackson Reunion is sponsored by Chapter 2678 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and the Cumberland Mountain Rangers Camp 1798 Sons of Confederate Veterans.
