Pikeville and Pike County are preparing to celebrate Independence Day and America’s 250th birthday with fireworks, live music, river races, family activities, food and plenty of small-town hospitality.
Festivities will take place across the county on Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4, 2026. Whether you want to enjoy a downtown celebration, spend the afternoon beside the Russell Fork River, watch live professional wrestling or end the evening beneath a sky filled with fireworks, you will find several ways to celebrate in Pike County, Kentucky.

Pikeville’s Red, White & You! July 4th Celebration
Downtown Pikeville will come alive on Saturday, July 4, as the community gathers to celebrate Independence Day with live entertainment, family activities, local vendors, delicious food and a spectacular fireworks finale. The City of Pikeville’s Red, White & You! July 4th Celebration will feature activities along Main Street and at Pikeville City Park throughout the afternoon and evening.
Main Street Activities
The celebration begins at 1:00 p.m., when local vendors line Main Street with crafts, specialty merchandise, food trucks and more. Visitors can spend the afternoon exploring downtown Pikeville, enjoying local food and taking part in the holiday festivities.
At 7:00 p.m., live entertainment begins on the Mountain Top Media Stage, featuring Brady Robinson & The Coal Rush Band, winners of the Appalachian Wireless Arena Battle of the Bands.
Pikeville City Park Activities
Additional family-friendly activities will take place at Pikeville City Park throughout the afternoon:
- 4:00 p.m. – Hot Pepper Eating Contest
- 5:00 p.m. – Local Celebrity Hot Ones Challenge
- 6:00 p.m. – The Magic of Eugene Mullins
The Local Celebrity Hot Ones Challenge will feature hot sauces supplied by Friends Drift Inn, with wings prepared and delivered by Cut Through Catering’s Appalachian Wireless Arena Division. Face painting and balloon art will also be available throughout the day.
Pikeville Fireworks Grand Finale
The celebration concludes at “dark thirty,” or dusk, with Pikeville’s brilliant Independence Day fireworks display illuminating the mountain sky. Gather with friends, family and neighbors in downtown Pikeville as the community honors the nation’s past, celebrates its future and commemorates America’s 250th birthday in spectacular fashion.

Elkhorn City’s Fourth on the Fork
Elkhorn City will celebrate Independence Day along the beautiful Russell Fork River with an afternoon and evening of family activities, music, river races, inflatables and fireworks. Elkhorn City’s Fourth on the Fork will take place on Saturday, July 4, offering visitors a scenic place to celebrate with friends and family in one of Pike County’s most picturesque communities.
Family Fun Along the River
Activities begin at 1:00 p.m. with a free inflatable water slide and other inflatables for children and families. The inflatable water slide is scheduled to remain open until 9:00 p.m.
Visitors can also enjoy live music overlooking the river featuring DJ Lynn Webb & Ann. Music will be located at Time Out Pizza, providing a lively soundtrack for the afternoon’s festivities.
Anything That Floats Race
At 4:30 p.m., participants will take to the Russell Fork River for the popular Anything That Floats Race. Competitors are encouraged to build a floating creation, bring it to the river and see how it performs. Registration for the race will be held at The Caboose beginning at 3:30 p.m.
Rubber Duck Race
The riverfront fun continues at 6:00 p.m. with a Rubber Duck Race down the Russell Fork. Registration for both races will be available at The Caboose from 3:30 to 6:00 p.m.
Elkhorn City Fireworks at Dark Thirty
Elkhorn City’s Fourth on the Fork will conclude at “dark thirty,” or dusk, with a fireworks display over the community and the Russell Fork River. Bring your family, lawn chairs and patriotic spirit for an Independence Day celebration filled with small-town hospitality, riverfront fun, great music and a beautiful mountain view.

Hatfield’s Hideout will mark America’s 250th birthday with a Fourth of July fireworks show on Saturday, July 4. The fireworks will begin at dusk, when the night sky lights up with a patriotic display. Visitors are invited to gather with friends and celebrate Independence Day in a relaxed mountain setting.

Coal Run’s Old-Fashioned Independence Day Celebration
The City of Coal Run will begin the holiday weekend with an Old-Fashioned Independence Day Celebration on Friday, July 3, at Coal Run City Park.
Beginning at 7:00 p.m., the community celebration will offer live music, professional wrestling, children’s activities, free refreshments and a fireworks display after dark. Families are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets and settle in for an evening of patriotic fun.
Free Family Activities and Refreshments
Children and families can enjoy inflatables, face painting and the park playground throughout the evening. Free hot dogs and refreshments will also be served while supplies last.
Live Music and Appalachian Mountain Wrestling
Live music begins at 7:00 p.m. with Julie Goff and the Full House Band, performing through 10:00 p.m.
Appalachian Mountain Wrestling will bring live wrestling action to the celebration beginning at 7:30 p.m., with the main event scheduled for 8:30 p.m.
Coal Run Fireworks After Dark
The evening concludes with Coal Run’s Independence Day fireworks display after dark. Organizers are promoting it as one of the region’s best fireworks shows and a fitting way to celebrate America’s 250th birthday.
